May Del Sol is one of my very favorite restaurants in the Chicago area! The sophisticated atmosphere and menu make it a real stand out. The food is, simply, wonderful. And much of it is wonderfully simple. They offer well-cooked, interesting food for people who aren't looking for a burrito as big as your head or cheese slathered chimichangas. Some of our favorites Their dining areas and bar are great, but the true gem of the space is the large private patio which features its own bar and fire pit. Their chips have a subtle citrusy flavor and delicate crunch and pair perfectly with their tasty green salsa. Their Coyopa Margarita is mixed and poured into a martini glass at the table and tastes fresh & wonderful. Their ceviches are terrific and they over a small menu featuring a surprising variety of dishes. Stand-outs for me: Their light & tasty smoked salmon salad (a diet friendly dish at a Mexican restaurant- I'm in heaven!), the heat + chill shrimp, the seared scallops & Baja fish tacos. My husband, the meat eater in the family likes the chipotle marinaded carne asada. We are thrilled to have such a great Mexican spot in the Oak Park area.
